Week #2  Metal Work  by Robin Sruoginis

8.5 X 8.5 Journal page
I could have sworn I knew where my metal stash was, but no, so I improvised with a soda can for my metal. Took it outside in the cold and torched it. Amazing the effect of heat on the paint. Both sides being fabulous I had to make a choice, and seeing flowers in the warp of the metal on the inside, I went with that. I painted with metal paint by Ranger. Then on to sewing, which I had to go very slow on the machine or it shredded the thread, The hand sewing was easier then I thought. I felted a piece of silk to vintage drapery fabric for the page of the journal. Did collage using paper, silk scraps and more metal in the swirly thing which is hammered wire (learned from IV Anderson) and an antique metal earring.

  1. Love the color on the aluminum can. Great ingenuity; if you can't find it, create it!
